iConquer-Grand Canyon FINAL Self-Assessment & Readiness Form
THIS FORM IS FOR ALL
TEAM CHALLENGE HIKERS!
Please complete and submit this form on or before May 12, 2019.
The iConquer Adventure Team is ready for your arrival to Arizona and Grand Canyon! Just like you, we have been training by hiking endless miles in Grand Canyon. We have had many teams on all the trails we will be utilizing for Team Challenge and there have not been any changes in the terrain caused by weather, erosion or usage. Grand Canyon is ready for us, and YOU are ready for Grand Canyon.
Safety is a shared responsibility, YOURS AND OURS! iConquer guides are fully prepared and trained for your adventure. They are professionals and by signing on with Team Challenge and iConquer, you are agreeing to follow their lead every step of the way. While on the trail, their advice and leadership is key to your success. Please understand that in their decision making process they take into consideration information from all of the individuals that make up the team. It is possible that a member of the team has shared information with them that they would like kept confidential and their decisions are not subject to a team vote. Please follow their lead at all times. We hike as a team. No one hikes alone. All For One, One For All!
The Rim To Rim and Rim To River Extreme Adventures are
The Rim-Rim Trail is the longest hike and one of the most difficult in all of Grand Canyon. This trail requires excellent preparation, and comprehensive physical training. It requires that you be able to hike nearly 26 miles over two days in the full Arizona desert sun and heat, with a 35-40lbs. fully loaded backpack on and with over 10,000 feet of elevation change.
The Rim-River Trail is the steepest hike and one of the most difficult in all of Grand Canyon. Gauging by past experience, this trail is harder than the Rim to Rim Adventure. The trail requires excellent preparation, and comprehensive physical training. It requires that you be able to hike nearly 18 miles over two days in the full Arizona desert sun and heat, with a 35-40lbs. fully loaded backpack on and with over 10,000 feet of elevation change.
The (SRA) - South Rim Adventure is the longest and most difficult day-hike in Grand Canyon.
These adventures are for hikers who are very fit, very well-trained and mentally prepared for the extreme difficulties and rigors of the trail. IF this describes you, then you should be good to go. IF it does not describe you, then you should NOT hike either of the in-canyon trails. Consider moving your hike to the South Rim Adventure Day Hike. There is nothing in or at Grand Canyon that is worth your getting hurt, sick or worse. Make your Grand Canyon adventure memorable by the things you have accomplished!
Trail Etiquette! Your guides are very well versed in "leave no trace" principles. They will help you with all of the things necessary for you to stick with those principles throughout your journey. Please join us in being steward of the trail. Though your hikes are in very remote locations within the Canyon, it is possible that you will meet others on the trail. Follow you guides instructions whenever you encounter other people or animals. Remember the UPHILL has the Right-Of-Way! You'll appreciate it when it is you.
Your Guide and Gratuities. iConquer guides are fully compensated professionals. On guide-led hiking adventures some guests and hikers like to provide a gratuity to the guide if they feel their service was exceptional. Of course tipping is a personal matter and there is no expectation for you to do so. If you would like to tip your guide, please do so directly. Frequently guests request a guideline, so we recommend $8-$10 per person, per day for driver/hiking guides and $12-$15 per person, per day for hiking/camping guides. Never Expected, Always Appreciated!
